Duties
- Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and document their needs clearly and thoroughly
- Use estimating software to prepare accurate repair estimates, including parts, labor, and timeframes
- Communicate repair recommendations effectively to customers, explaining necessary services such as oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire service, shocks & struts, transmissions, and collision repairs
- Upsell additional maintenance or repair services that enhance vehicle performance and safety while aligning with customer needs
- Coordinate with service technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work
- Manage cash handling procedures accurately and maintain detailed records of all transactions
- Provide ongoing client communication throughout the repair process to keep customers informed and satisfied
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an automotive service writer or in auto service management within a dealership or repair shop environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance procedures, and repair processes
- Experience using estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Knowledge of dealership operations, collision repair processes, and automotive service standards
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Familiarity with auto estimating techniques for repairs such as oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire services, shocks & struts replacements, transmissions servicing, and more
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; driving experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle cash transactions accurately
