Job Description: Heavy Equipment Operator
Reports To:
The Heavy Equipment Operator reports to the Yard Manager and the General Manager.
Job Overview:
The Heavy Equipment Operator (Trackhoe/Excavator) is responsible for handling scrap metal material delivered to and shipped from the scrap yard. This includes unloading customer vehicles as well as unloading and loading commercial haulers. The Heavy Equipment operator must be proficient with heavy equipment and be able to identify and organize metals. We are open to the public Monday-Friday 8am-4pm and Saturday 8am-12am.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Perform daily inspection and preventative maintenance
-Unload customer vehicles and trailers
-Unload commercial haulers
-Load commercial haulers for sale
-Identify and sort scrap metal according to company standards
-Maintain a safe and clean yard and work space
-Fuel machines as needed
-Secure work space at the close of business
-Interact with customers in a kind and cordial manner
-Willing to work overtime as requested
-Any other duties assigned by the Yard Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
-Experience as an equipment operator
-Able to organize material in a logical manner
-Willing to learn
-Self-motivated
-Able to follow directions
-Willing to work as a team
-Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment
-Have transportation to and from work
-Able to pass a drug screen
Pay and Benefits:
-Salary is commiserate with management experience
-Paid vacation begins accruing after 1 year of employment

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
