Accounting Supervisor

Tri-Dam Project is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee and manage the day-to-day business and financial operations of our unique joint hydroelectric project. Located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada region, this position plays a key leadership role in budgeting, financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and working in coordination with financial leadership from Oakdale Irrigation District and South San Joaquin Irrigation District, this position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a solid background in government accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, and work order systems
• Prepare and manage annual and project budgets
• Compile financial reports for internal use, audits, and regulatory agencies
• Monitor contractor compliance and financial progress on projects
• Analyze account activity and recommend process improvements
• Maintain and improve internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance
• Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors
• Lead, train, and evaluate accounting staff
• Assist with contract development and fiscal aspects of project management

What We’re Looking For:

Knowledge of:

• GAAP, especially within government or utility sectors
• Budgeting, cost control, and audit processes
• Payroll systems and PERS reporting
• State and federal financial regulations

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Collaborative mindset and strong supervisory capabilities

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive accounting experience
• At least two (2) years in a supervisory role
• Public sector experience strongly preferred
• Valid California driver’s license required

Tri-Dam Headquarters is currently located in Strawberry, CA. Applicant must be able to drive in winter conditions of snow and ice.

We will be moving to the Sonora office in the fall of 2026. This position will start in September 2026, not before September 1.
