What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Desk position at Tri County Pediatrics?
Responsible for checking patients in and/or out, receiving visitors, answering calls, scheduling appointments, and performing clerical duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Greets and identifies patients and visitors as they enter the office. Requests patients and visitors be seated in the waiting room in a courteous manner and communicates unexpected delays when necessary. Verifies insurance via web portal, phone calls, or facsimile. Answers multi-line telephone system, takes accurate messages, and screens and directs telephone calls to the appropriate staff member. Acquires necessary medical records and documents for patient charts by communicating via telephone or facsimile. Maintains the front desk and reception areas. Schedules patient appointments, reschedules appointments, and manages other scheduling issues. Verifies patient demographics and insurance providers, updates information in systems, documents conversations, and tags patients in and/or out. Receives payments from patients for services, maintains accounts receivable records, and informs patients of credit card declines and other billing issues. Creates financial arrangements with patients when necessary. Enters financial transactions and miscellaneous correspondence in HER. Contacts patients to secure past due balances. Assists providers and/or staff with translation services. Ensures proper maintenance and handling of PHI. Updates patient registration including setting payment expectations for insured and self-pay patients, and performs eligibility verification.
