The Tri-County Opportunities Council Early Head Start/Head Start Program serves 483 expectant mothers and children ages birth to five in the nine Illinois Counties of Bureau, Carroll, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall, Ogle, Putnam, Stark, and Whiteside. The program offers comprehensive child and family development services to those deemed eligible. The program’s primary goals are to partner with parents to promote self-esteem, increase self-confidence, and advance school readiness skills for children. Comprehensive programming includes education, medical, dental, mental health, and nutritional services; welcomes children with disabilities or special needs; and provides family education, advancement, and social service support while connecting enrolled families to community resources and transportation assistance. The program offers various options to meet the needs of children, families, and communities throughout all nine counties.

Open Job Positions in Sterling, IL for Early Head Start or Head Start:
- Sterling Lead Teacher (Head Start): 40 hrs./wk.; part-year and full-year positions. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a closely related degree with a minimum of 21 credit hours in ECE is required. Previous experience in a licensed early childhood setting is desired.Starting Wage Range: $20.74 to $23.92
- Sterling Bus Driver (Head Start): 18 hrs./wk. Bus Driver and 12 hrs./wk. Class Aide; part-year position. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and an excellent driving record. Must have held a valid driver’s license for at least three (3) consecutive years before hire. Starting Wage Range: $17.00 to $17.82
- Wallace Center Site Supervisors (Middle Management Position): 40 hrs./wk.; part-year positions. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or related degree with a minimum of 21 credit hours in ECE is required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Starting Wage Range: $22.39 to $24.69
Open Job Positions in Rock Falls, IL for Early Head Start or Head Start:
- Health Specialist (Leadership Position): 40 hrs./week; full-year position. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a current Illinois license. A valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and previous experience in pediatric health, public health, or health management systems are required. Pay Range: $4,066.00 to $5,600.00/per month
