REQUIREMENTS

  • The position is located in TCHC's administrative office in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Familiarity with Belmont County and its community culture is required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and obtain the Ohio Advocate Network's Registered Advocate credentialing within 1 year of employment.
  • TCHC reimburses mileage for required travel throughout Belmont, Harrison and Monroe counties and for professional development out of the catchment area.
  • Interested applicants must complete a BCI and FBI criminal background check, have a valid drivers license with active auto insurance.
  • The position is 40 hours per week during Monday-Friday 830am-430pm and some evenings to meet agency needs. The hourly rate is range is $15.00-$20.00 dependent upon qualifications and experiences.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The qualified applicant will provide direct advocacy working one-on-one with survivors, listening to their experiences, offering emotional support and deescalating a crisis when needed. Accompaniment includes attending court, law enforcement reporting or interviews and medical advocacy. An on-call rotation ensures survivors are not alone at local hospitals. Advocates help identify needs, goals, and build safety plans. A working knowledge of available community resources and how to access them helps survivors move forward.

This position includes advocacy in community education through creating presentations and speaking engagements to local groups about issues related to victimization and mental health. Outreach involves setting up at tabling events in the community to engage in public conversations bringing awareness on how to better support survivors.

This role has administrative tasks of answering calls, scheduling appointments, and documenting services on the electronic health records system so that clients and survivors receive consistent support. Regular statistic and data tracking is required for reports. Maintaining a welcoming, trauma-informed space includes light daily and weekly cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, respectful environment.
