What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transit Driver position at Tri-County Community Action Program, Inc.?
The Driver is responsible for operating vehicles for purposes of transporting Senior citizens, handicapped
individuals and the general public. This is a Safety Sensitive position and requires Drug & Alcohol pre-employment and Random testing.
Additional Duties within the Carroll County area:
-Perform dispatcher duties when necessary and is responsible for
effectively meeting client transportation needs with the vehicle and driver available.
-Essential Functions & Responsibilities
-Drives passenger buses transporting Elderly/Disabled/General public passengers.
-Assists passengers if necessary in and out of vehicle, carries packages for elderly and disabled passengers to (not through) the door, operates wheelchair lift to load and unload passenger mobility devices, secures mobility devices to vehicle for safe travel.
-Ensures the vehicle is in safe operating condition at all times by performing pre-trip
inspections and reporting any problems to the Maintenance Manager.
-Communicates with dispatcher when picking up, disembarking passengers and when driver leaves the vehicle.
-Completes driver manifests and other related trip forms with trip/service information.
-Provides outreach and referral services to inform passengers of other agency available
services.
-Attends mandated driver meetings and training sessions as recommended by the Director
and/or Operations Manager.
-Performs additional duties as deemed necessary by supervisor or the Transportation Director.
-Drivers at outside sites count fareboxes and make bank deposits.
Prepares bi-weekly timesheets.
-Ensures on board passenger policies are enforced.
-Keeps vehicle clean inside and outside.
