What are the responsibilities and job description for the HEALTH MANAGER position at Tri-county Community Action Agency?
JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for directing and ensuring the effective delivery of Health and Safety services to all Head Start children, families, and staff in accordance with NJ licensing regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop, review, and/or update the Health Services Plan (annually). Develop and implement health standards for centers and staff that are consistent with modern public health concepts. Ensure that all procedures relating to medical and dental services are followed up and/or implemented.
- Develop and maintain an accurate tracking system which reflects all pertinent health information. Ensure that all children, families and staff receive the required physical examination, laboratory work, immunizations, visual and dental assessments and follow-up in time requirements. Supervise and monitor the health records of children enrolled in Head Start and ensure that all recorded data is current, accurate and documented correctly. Monitor and ensure that Health follow-ups are submitted and documented.
- Develop and provide opportunities through training and/or workshops for children, families, and staff acquire developmentally appropriate, essential and required health and safety practices. This may include developing, reviewing, and coordinating the preventive Health Program for Parents by supervising and/or teaching the Health Education portion of the Parent Education Program.
- Ensure that parents are provided all health service data relation to their child in an ongoing as well as cumulative basis and are encourage participating in the well-being of the child.
- Develop community collaborations with other agencies to ensure that all health and safety concerns of Head Start children, families, and staff are effectively satisfied. This includes establishing, working with and maintaining a Health Advisory Committee, which should meet no less than two times per year.
- Attend a minimum of two Center Committee and Health Services Advisory meetings per month.
- Work closely with other managers to ensure that all Health Services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
- Submits and receives reports. Submit a written and accurate monthly report: service area related statistics/issues, # if center visits and observations/issues, meetings, trainings, workshops, analysis of program issues along with suggestions. Submit reports and statistics yo Local, State, and Federal agencies as required. Receive and document reports and services from community health agencies which are servicing Head Start children.
- Supervise and facilitate the training of Family Workers in regards to health service area related to responsibilities.
- Direct and supervise the activities of the Health Coordinators.
- Participate in all phases of the transition process.
- Perform all other assigned Head Start duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree in Health Services or related services.
- Early childhood healthcare experience, including knowledge of the current child care health requirements as mandated by local and state licensing bodies.
- Ability to prepare and teach meaningful health education principles and practices to individuals of varying education and socio-economic backgrounds.
- A minimum of two years management experience.
- Must have a valid NJ license and access to a vehicle daily.
