Community Health Program Coordinator
Reports To: Prevention Director
Location: North Providence, Rhode Island
Status: Part-Time (7 hours per week)

The Smithfield Prevention Coalition is seeking a Community Health Program Coordinator to support our mission of preventing the initiation and escalation of substance use among youth and across the lifespan, while promoting healthy, positive lifestyle choices.
The Coordinator will lead the municipal prevention coalition, serving as the primary point of contact for local stakeholders, facilitating coalition meetings, and guiding goals and activities in alignment with the Regional Coalitions’ mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and engage stakeholders representing six core sectors: business, education, health care, government, community/family supports, and safety.
- Implement evidence-based prevention programs for middle and high school youth in Smithfield.
- Collaborate with middle and high school administrators and staff to support program delivery.
- Plan and facilitate a minimum of ten (10) municipal prevention coalition meetings per year.
- Coordinate and participate in community health and public awareness campaigns.
- Develop and share educational materials and messaging that promote healthy behaviors and raise awareness of prevention efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, health studies, public health, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in substance use prevention and/or public health programming and policy (highly desirable).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with basic graphic design software preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible schedule, with occasional evening or weekend availability.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
