QA Manager JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Works directly with various employees and departments to manage all quality control functions of the organization. Responsible for the ISO and Quality Management systems. Ensures jobs are inspected accurately, efficiently, and timely. Communicates with customers regularly to discuss job results and potential issues. Works with vendors closely on supplies needed.
Essential Functions
- Directs, manages, and provides leadership to all inspection and lab tech employees
- Contacts customer on non-conforming work
- Coordinates any rework, scrap, retempers with plant manager and production
- Manages a budget for quality supplies and consumables in lab and throughout the shop
- Controls and coordinates labor needed in their department
- Help and assists in parts prep, hardness test (Vickers/Knoop/Microhardness), sectioning, mounting, polishing.
- Able to analyze microstructure with good understanding for communication to colleagues and customers.
- Strong background in metallurgy (austenite, pearlite, martensite).
- Experience in PPAP’s / Internal & External Audits
- Provides continuous improvement on quality systems to help with procedures and minimize incomplete documentation.
- Strong in coaching employees and discussing opportunities for improvement.

Required Experience
· Minimum 5 years’ Heat Treating experience in commercial or captive heat treat
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Supervisor/Manager in a heat treat facility
· Proven track record in continuous improvement and development of people
· Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advance coaching skills
· Demonstrated ability to engage, assess and develop employees to meet current and future business needs
· P&L experience is preferred, but not required
· Knowledge of ISO 9001 system and standards is required
· Previous experience implementing best practices and using continuous improvement tools such as Lean, 5-S or Six Sigma
· Experience developing justifications for Capital Expenditures is preferred, but not required.
· Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office (power point, word, excel) to analyze data and trend is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,680.00 - $116,480.00 per year
