Tri-City Group is seeking an Organizational Safety Training Specialist to design, coordinate, and deliver safety training across all Tri-City Group operating companies in Davenport, IA. This role ensures our workforce is trained, current, and confident in the skills that keep them safe — from OSHA-required courses and task-specific field training to specialized programs like MSHA and DOT-related vehicle and equipment safety. This is a highly visible, cross-company role that partners closely with the Director of Safety & Training, the DOT Compliance Coordinator, the Talent Development Administrator, and operating company leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality safety training.

Safety Training Delivery
This role requires regular day travel to job sites and operating company locations, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, and proximity to heavy equipment and energized systems. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and is required at all times while in the field. This role also requires extended periods of standing or speaking while delivering training sessions. Essential Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
Safety Training Delivery
- Plan, schedule, and deliver OSHA-required training (e.g., fall protection, PPE, electrical safety, confined space, and other general and construction industry standards) to employees across all Tri-City Group operating companies.
- Develop and deliver task-specific safety training tailored to the work being performed by each operating company and division.
- Design and deliver additional training as needs arise, staying responsive to emerging hazards, incident trends, and operational changes.
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications to support compliance and audit readiness.
- Serve as the company coordinator for MSHA training, ensuring applicable sites and personnel meet all required initial and annual refresher training. Coordinate with third-party trainers.
- Track MSHA training compliance across operating companies and maintain documentation required for regulatory inspections.
- Stay current on MSHA regulatory updates and respond accordingly.
- Partner with the DOT Compliance Coordinator to develop and deliver vehicle and equipment safety training, including defensive driving, pre-trip inspections, and safe equipment operation.
- Support DOT compliance initiatives by reinforcing safety expectations for commercial motor vehicle operators and equipment operators in training sessions.
- Collaborate with the Talent Development Administrator to build and deliver the safety component of the foreman development program.
- Equip foremen with the tools to lead safety on their crews — including job briefings, hazard recognition, and coaching techniques — as part of their broader leadership development.
- Provide ongoing safety mentorship and follow-up support to foremen as they grow into their leadership role.
- Lead the safety portion of new hire orientation for all incoming employees, setting the tone for Tri-City Group's safety culture from day one.
- Ensure new hires leave orientation with a clear understanding of safety expectations, reporting procedures, and available resources.
- Assist Tri-City Business Solutions in providing safety training support to outside/external customers as requested.
- Represent Tri-City Group professionally when delivering training to external audiences, reinforcing the company's safety reputation and brand.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience delivering safety training, ideally within construction, utility, electrical, or industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA general industry and/or construction standards.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from new hires to experienced field crews.
- Comfortable traveling regularly during the day to operating company locations and job sites; occasional overnight travel.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage training schedules, records, and compliance documentation across multiple companies.
- Experience supporting or partnering with DOT compliance or fleet safety functions.
- OSHA Outreach Trainer certification (10-Hour/30-Hour)
- Experience developing leadership or foreman-level training content.
- Familiarity with human and organizational performance (HOP) principles or the SIF model.
