JOB SUMMARY:

The Site Safety Representative will assist the Safety Director and Safety Managers in implementing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety within the company. This position will serve as a resource for safety and field personnel alike.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures that all policies, programs, and daily operations comply with local, state, and federal laws and procedures regarding safety.
  • Implement and enforce the Tri-City Safety Policy.
  • Assist with the management and inventory of job site safety equipment.
  • Qualify and help deliver safety and job skill training.
  • Assist with identifying job site field training needs.
  • Effectively communicate to enhance and encourage overall employee safety awareness and job knowledge.
  • Maintain a safety presence in the field and build rapport with the field team, other trades, controlling contractors, and owners.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Assign responsibility and deadlines to correct safety issues identified to maintain OSHA compliance.
  • Assist with the maintenance of job site OSHA documentation, including SDS chemical lists.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions, practices, and programs on the job site.
  • Interact with other contractors to ensure employees are not exposed to various hazards.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and or/safety violations on the job site to determine trends and assist with the development of procedures to avoid recurrence.
  • Document accidents of all trades.
  • Respond immediately to any/all OSHA inspections and remain on-site for the duration of the inspectors' visit.
  • Serve as a representative of Tri-City to organizations, companies, trades, etc., outside of Tri-City.
  • Attend job site safety meetings.
  • Keep other personnel up to date regarding conditions, observations, upcoming training, etc.
  • Assist Human Resources in gathering on-site OSHA, safety, and workers' compensation investigations and information as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations) to calculate labor, materials, and/or cost estimates for projects and work orders, etc.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes
  • OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry)
  • 1-3 years of direct job site safety experience
  • 3-5 years of electrical construction experience
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bilingual
  • Ability to successfully obtain JLA badging for school job sites
  • Journeyman Electrical License
  • Prior experience as an instructor in either safety or technical topics
  • Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction (STSC) or equivalent

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General Office Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Environmental Conditions:
    The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting with minimal exposure to loud noise, temperature variations, or other environmental factors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to wear company-approved Personal Protective Equipment per local, state, federal, or OSHA regulations.
  • The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to perform physical duties listed above for extended periods.
  • Sitting/Standing: Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, though there may be opportunities for standing and moving around the office as needed.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to operate computer keyboards, mouse, and other office tools, as well as to handle paperwork.
  • Visual Requirements: The ability to read and interpret data on computer screens and printed documents is essential.
  • Mobility: Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, documents, or office supplies, may be requested. Must be able to access all areas of the facility and projects to determine purchasing needs.
  • Communication: Regular communication with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders requires the ability to exchange information effectively in both verbal and written form.

SCHEDULE AND REQUIRED TRAVEL:

  • Requires the ability to report to job sites or offices throughout Florida.
  • May be requested to work overtime, nights, and weekends.
