Duties
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications accurately using pharmacy software systems while maintaining meticulous data entry records
- Assist pharmacists with medication compounding, including sterile IV admixture procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure safe medication preparation
- Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and verifying pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and drug regulation standards
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and supporting medication administration processes
- Ensure adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, including maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with healthcare regulations
- Support clinical pharmacy activities such as medication reconciliation, pharmacological medical terminology documentation, and intake assessments for various care settings including LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, community, and critical care environments
- Perform hospital pharmacy duties involving IV infusion preparation, sterile compounding, drug regulation compliance, and hospital experience protocols
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program; current registration or licensure as required by state law
- Prior experience for 3-5 years in LTC pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or community pharmacy settings is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems for data entry and medication management. We use Liberty Software.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, drug regulation policies, and state healthcare regulations
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care and communication
- Ability to perform medical terminology interpretation related to acute care and pharmacological treatments
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified
