WHAT YOU'LL DO AS AN Accounting Manager
Located on our beautiful corporate campus in Louisville (KY), The Accounting Manager oversees a team of accounting professionals responsible for Accounts Receivable, Revenue Accounting for Customer Contracts, Treasury, Hedging and Logan Manufacturing costs. This role ensures the accurate and timely completion of core accounting activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support for internal and external audit requests through review of his or her team’s work. In addition to managing daily operations, the Accounting Manager provides strong leadership focused on developing both the technical accounting capabilities and professional behaviors of the team. This position sets clear expectations, models appropriate business conduct, and builds a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Accounting Manager will drive operational excellence within the accounting function, support month end and year end close processes, and partner with cross functional teams.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of four accounting professionals across Accounts Receivable, Revenue Accounting, Treasury, Hedging, and Manufacturing Cost Accounting.
- Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations focused on both technical competence and professional behaviors.
- Oversee the accurate and timely completion of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Lead and coordinate assigned components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure deadlines are met and identified issues are resolved efficiently and accurately.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather required inputs and resolve close-related issues.
- Continuously evaluate close processes and implement improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and transparency.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors for assigned areas.
- Review audit support prepared by the team and ensure requests are addressed accurately and timely.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, standardizing processes, and implementing enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
- Safely travel as necessary, including overnight travel to customer locations and Logan plant.
- While in customers’ or Logan plants Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used 100% of the time and exactly as specified.
- Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Bends, stoops, or crouches on a regular basis
- May sit for several hours at a time (>6 hours international travel, if applicable)
- Corporate office setting, customers’ plants and offices, travel (air, rail, auto)
- Work may be required outside standard business hours.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
- 5 years of experience in an accounting role preferred.
- 5 years managing accounting professionals in a team setting preferred.
- Actively seeking or obtained Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Solid track record of continuous improvement projects preferably cross-departmental
- Experience as a change leader related to departmental processes
- Manufacturing accounting experience preferred
- Proficient in Oracle ERP (or similar) applications.
- Effectively leads, coaches, and develops accounting staff; sets clear expectations and holds others accountable for results.
- Provides timely, constructive feedback and conducts objective performance evaluations aligned with role expectations
- Applies generally accepted accounting principles and company policies accurately across diverse accounting areas.
- Manages complex close activities with discipline, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Produces accurate work, detects discrepancies, and ensures data integrity across financial records.
- Continuous Improvement Mindset - Identifies inefficiencies and drives process enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
- Works effectively with Finance, Operations, IT, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and support business needs.
- Clearly communicates accounting concepts, expectations, and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
