Job Overview: Montgomery Rubber & Gasket, a TRG Company, is looking to add a self-starter Counter Salesperson to their team! This position is a great way to start a career in the Industrial Distribution Industry. The Counter Sales is a customer-facing role in a hose, fitting, and gasket shop. You will handle walk-in and phone customers, build hose assemblies, and manage orders in our ERP system.
Essential Functions:- Assist walkin, phone, and email customers with product selection and problem solving
- Build hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies, including cutting, skiving, crimping, and testing
- Operate a forklift, hydraulic hose crimper, and air tools
- Enter quotes, sales orders, and receipts in the ERP system accurately
- Pull, stage, and load customer orders
- Source nonstock items and follow up with customers on status
- Maintain inventory accuracy and keep the counter and assembly areas clean and organized Competencies:
- Possess excellent motivation to meet/exceed customer requirements
- Ability to read and understand work orders and job sheets
- Ability to push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently on a repeated basis
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory software Preferred Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Willingness to learn the technical side of hose, fittings, and gasket materials, including pressure ratings, thread identification, and material compatibility
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn an ERP system
- Ability to operate or be trained on a forklift, hose crimper, and air tools
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Prior counter sales, parts, industrial distribution, or hydraulic shop experience preferred but not required Physical Demands:
- Standing and walking for the majority of the shift, at times bending and leaning over in awkward positions
- Regularly lifting up to 50 pounds
- Working between the sales counter, warehouse, and assembly area

Position Type: This is an hourly, non-exempt full-time position. Hours are Monday-Friday, with possible weekend hours based on customer needs.
