Lead, Materials
As a lead in the materials department, you will assume a leadership role within the materials management department, responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of the materials team. Your primary focus will be on inventory control, enforcing processes, materials planning, and ensuring the timely and efficient supply of materials to support production or operational requirements.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of indirect warehouse personnel, providing guidance, direction, and support.
- Oversee the control and organization of materials, including receiving, storage, inventory accuracy, and replenishment.
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and other relevant departments to plan and schedule materials to meet production and operational needs.
- Enforce safety guidelines and promote a culture of safety within the materials team.
- Ensure that materials meet quality and compliance standards, conducting inspections and quality checks as required.
- Train and mentor production team members, facilitating professional development and skill enhancement
- Maintain detailed records of inventory levels, materials transactions, and materials-related processes.
- Continuously improve materials and inventory processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Ensure materials and inventory are sufficient for production needs and coordinate with the production management team.
- Work closely with other departments and communicate with supervisors and managers to optimize materials and inventory operations.
- Generate and present reports on inventory levels, materials usage, and any relevant KPIs to management.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Excels in using inventory management software and systems, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities, including the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Ability to identify and address materials-related issues and implement solutions.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate with team members and other departments.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills for inventory management and materials planning.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment
The work environment may include exposure to manufacturing machinery and potentially noisy conditions. The temperature inside a warehouse can vary. Some warehouses are climate-controlled, while others may not be.
Physical Requirements
- The employee will frequently lift on average 30lbs throughout the course of a shift, ability to lift up 50 lbs occasionally.
- The employee will be required to stand for extended periods of time.
- The employee will be required to frequently bend and/ or twist throughout the course of a shift.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are often necessary, especially for tasks like for assembly of smaller components.
- The employee will engage in continuous repetitive motions, including hand, wrist, and arm movements, as part of daily tasks.
