Low Voltage Cable Technician

Position Summary

Treva Workforce is seeking dependable, hands-on Low Voltage Cable Technicians to install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low voltage cabling systems in commercial, industrial, and other customer environments.

The ideal candidate has experience working with network cabling, structured wiring, cable pathways, and installation tools. Candidates should be comfortable working on job sites, following technical instructions, maintaining a safe work environment, and completing projects according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, route, pull, label, and secure low voltage cables through ceilings, walls, conduit, cable trays, and other pathways.

• Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low voltage cabling as required by the project.

• Assist with installing network racks, patch panels, cable trays, J-hooks, wall plates, and equipment enclosures.

• Perform cable testing, continuity checks, labeling, and basic troubleshooting to identify installation issues.

• Read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and installation instructions.

• Assist with network infrastructure, telecommunications, security systems, access control, cameras, and other low voltage applications as assigned.

• Use hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and other installation equipment safely and effectively.

• Maintain organized work areas and ensure cables are properly supported, routed, and documented.

• Follow all job-site safety requirements, company policies, and applicable electrical and building codes.

• Work collaboratively with lead technicians, project managers, and other installation team members to complete projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous low voltage cabling, telecommunications, network installation, or related hands-on experience preferred.

• Familiarity with cable pulling, termination, labeling, and basic cable testing.

• Ability to use common hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams, floor plans, or technical instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Reliable attendance, a positive work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required, depending on the position.

• Ability to pass any required background check, drug screening, or site-specific requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated areas as required.

• Ability to lift and carry cabling, tools, ladders, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, or above ceilings when properly trained and authorized.

• Ability to work in commercial, industrial, construction, or active job-site environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience installing Cat5e/Cat6 structured cabling or fiber optic systems.

• Experience terminating RJ45 connectors, patch panels, and network jacks.

• Familiarity with cable certification testers and network testing equipment.

• Experience with telecommunications rooms, IDF/MDF closets, network racks, and cable management.

• OSHA safety training, lift certification, or other relevant industry certifications.

• BICSI training or certification is a plus.
