WHAT WE DO:
We are committed to assisting, advocating for and supporting families through the Judicial process by assessing, supervising, and connecting to ongoing services in order to provide an alternative to detention which will ultimately reduce recidivism and long-term involvement in the juvenile justice system. Trestle Programs, Inc. operates programs in 8 of the 23 Judicial Districts throughout Colorado. We’re looking for the right candidate to join our team in the 19th JD in Greeley, CO.
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Through a series of standardized questions and responses, determines if the juvenile is appropriate for placement in a secure detention facility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the 19th Judicial District Screening Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide immediate response via cell phone on a 24/7 basis for the 13th and 19th JD, and other JDs as requested.
- Obtain accurate information from the arresting agency about the juvenile/incident.
- Relay accurate information to the appropriate entities/agencies.
- Assist in the emergency release process when facility is at cap.
- Upon youth’s detention, complete the CJRA prescreen, ARNA and other requested assessments within specified time parameters.
- Inform and send Relative Information Form to families and notify CYDC/court of the same.
Other Duties
- Additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Screening Supervisor.
- Provide coverage as needed/scheduled.
- Stay up to date on any changes and or trainings that pertain to the position as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the juvenile justice system, human service system, CYDC, and various juvenile program resources and services within the judicial district.
- Ability to develop good relations with arresting agencies, booking agencies, Platte Valley Youth Services Center, the courts, and all other entities involved in the juvenile justice /screening process.
- Ability to ascertain accurate facts.
- Ability to interpret and translate facts and information.
- Ability to interact with others to clarify intent, explain rationale, advise others of appropriate or desired course of action.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and employ culturally sensitive practices.
- Ability to understand the policies and laws governing the placement of juveniles in a secure detention facility.
- Ability to maintain a professional standard of performance, demeanor, and appearance at all times.
- Ability to work cooperatively and closely with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability and skills to use computer, software (i.e. word processing, email, spreadsheet, database), cell phone, printer.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university with a degree in social work, psychology, sociology, human development, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be able to pass criminal background check- including CBI, FBI, and TRAILS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work performed in home office environment. Primarily work from home conducting phone screens, but must be available for occasional in-person meetings at the office in Greeley, CO.
