Job Title: Cafeteria Staff for 2026-2027 School Year
Term of Employment: 190 Day Assignment
Immediate Supervisor: Cafeteria Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Do simple arithmetic and follow oral and written directions.
- Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
- Transportation to and from work.
- This job may require lifting objects that exceed 40 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Attendance is an essential function of this job.
JOB GOAL: A school cafeteria worker is an employee who performs the duties and assumes the responsibilities assigned by the cafeteria manager.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform efficiently and to the best of his or her ability the duties assigned in relation to preparation of food, serving of food, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, and other assigned duties in the time allotted.
- Attend training meetings as required.
- Report to work at designated time, clock in and out utilizing the time clock system, and remains on the job until dismissed by the manager.
- Attendance is an essential function of this job
- Cook and prepare foods by using USDA quantity recipes.
- Notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions, either written or oral.
- Operate and maintain large food service kitchen equipment.
- Maintain pleasant working relations with the manager and fellow employees by demonstrating consideration for others, and other desirable traits.
- Follow all policies of the School Board and instructions of the manager relating to safety measures, sanitation practices, personnel standards, work techniques, and methods of performing duties.
- Perform duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering, and recordkeeping that are assigned by the cafeteria manager.
- Perform other school food duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager.
Cafeteria workers are assigned to positions ranging from 3.5 hours to 6.5 hours per day. They may be assigned or transferred to any school cafeteria in the district as needed. Evaluation of job will be performed on a semi-annual basis. Salary is established by the Board.
