Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for managing, coordinating, training, evaluating and monitoring the work of airport maintenance personnel engaged in airfield, apron, hangar, property inspections, emergency activities, preventative maintenance and planned projects. Managing the day-to-day maintenance operations as assigned in accordance with all applicable regulations, policies and procedures established by the Jackson County Airport Authority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and conduct as needed with personnel; daily inspections ensuring that all airfield, lighting, grounds, buildings, and facilities comply with county, state, and federal rules and regulations, including local ordinances.
- Prioritize and schedule routine and unscheduled maintenance and repairs; develop and manage a preventative maintenance program.
- Supervise, train and instruct employees in the maintenance department, with trouble shooting and repair of plumbing, electrical and heating air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Manage and coordinate the maintenance and repair of airport property with contracted vendors.
- Manage and oversee Airport’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan along with Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan. Ensure testing is completed with necessary reporting done as specified in plan.
- Prepare airport wildlife plan and oversee procedures, training, equipment and permitting.
- Conducts plan reviews with Director, of improvement projects on and around the airport to assist in ensuring compliance with airport’s Rules & Regulations and Safety Plan.
- Respond (as specified in Airport Emergency Plan) to aircraft accident/incident and other emergency situations that occur on airport property; issue appropriate notices to airmen (NOTAMS) when hazards exist and initiate closure of all or parts of the airport, if necessary.
- Monitors related expenditures and writes specifications for purchase of equipment and/or supplies and makes recommendations for purchase of equipment, services, and vehicles.
- Work may include mowing, electrical, concrete and asphalt work, carpentry, painting, and custodial services. Operates heavy equipment, power washers, and various power tools.
- Responsibilities may include other duties assigned by the Director and/or Jackson County Airport Authority.
Education & Qualification Requirements
- Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Aviation, Airports, FBO, Airlines or associated military experience is desired.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervision and/or management.
- A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Software required.
- Additional continuing education courses and/or certifications in related field are encouraged and may be required.
