The Role
We’re hiring compassionate, reliable team members for two closely related roles. Based on your skills and interest, you may work primarily as a DSP, a Job Coach, or a blend of both.
Direct Support Professional (DSP)
- Provide respectful, person-centered supports in the community, at program sites, and during activities of daily living.
- Support people with communication, social skills, self-advocacy, and community integration.
- Assist with transportation, scheduling, and participation in recreational, educational, and volunteer activities.
- Promote health and safety; follow support plans and risk plans.
- Document services accurately and on time (e.g., daily notes/T-Logs, ISP data, incident reports/GERs).
Job Coach
- Support individuals in discovering interests, preparing for work, and succeeding in community jobs.
- Provide on-site job training, task analysis, workplace accommodations, and natural support development.
- Communicate with employers professionally; model positive workplace habits.
- Track progress toward employment goals and complete timely documentation (e.g., service notes, VR reports).
- Collaborate with the person’s team to adjust strategies for long-term job retention.
What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)
- Build trusting, professional relationships and uphold dignity, choice, and independence.
- Follow person-centered plans, Individual Support Plans (ISPs), and safety protocols.
- Use agency tools/systems (e.g., Therap or similar) to complete accurate, same-day documentation.
- Drive agency or personal vehicle for community activities and employment supports (mileage reimbursed when applicable).
- Communicate promptly with supervisors, coworkers, families, and partner agencies.
- Participate in required trainings and team meetings; maintain certifications.
Qualifications
Required
- 18 years old; High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and/or reliable transportation.
- Able to pass a state background check and fingerprinting.
- Basic computer skills and professional written/spoken communication.
- Ability to safely lift/pivot up to ~50 lbs. and support people during community activities.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and person-centered practice.
Preferred
- Experience supporting adults with I/DD, mental health, or related fields.
- Knowledge of ISPs, T-Logs/GERs, positive behavior supports, and community employment.
- Familiarity with Oregon ODDS services and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) processes.
- Current CPR/First Aid, Oregon Driver’s training, OIS (or willingness to obtain—paid training provided).
Schedule, Pay & Benefits
- Pay: $16-$16.50 per hour (DOE)
- Bonuses/Stipends: e.g., call-in bonus, mileage reimbursement—if applicable.
- Benefits (for eligible staff): PTO, Oregon Saves, paid training/certifications, growth pathways (Lead DSP, Team Lead, Administrative Staff).
Training & Growth
We provide paid onboarding and continuing education, including person-centered practices, documentation systems (e.g., Therap), CPR/First Aid, OIS, and job coaching best practices.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role involves frequent community outings, occasional lifting/positioning, driving between sites/employers, and supporting people with varied communication and mobility needs. Reasonable accommodations are available.
