Job Summary:
The Operator will perform tree removal and clearing activities by operating a variety of equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May direct and supervise the work of other laborers and equipment operators as necessary to aid in safe and efficient completion of tasks requiring heavy equipment use.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Evaluate trees to determine the best method for removal, considering factors like tree size, health, location, and proximity to structures or power lines.
- Operates a variety of heavy equipment such as a skid steers, excavators, chippers, stump grinders, trimmers, as well as smaller equipment like chain saws, to accomplish difficult or highly complex tasks.
- Manage the disposal of wood chips, branches, and logs, either by chipping on-site, hauling away, or arranging for pick-up.
- Clean up the work site by raking, sweeping, or using blowers to remove any remaining debris, possibly leveling the ground where the tree stood.
- Prior to operating equipment, conducts routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
- Monitors gauges and other indicators to ensure safe operation.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on machinery and report any issues or needs for repair.
- Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Assist with repairs as needed.
- Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
- Maintains records of time worked and materials used.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate machinery.
- Proficient in the safe use of heavy equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex tree situations.
- Strong spatial visualization skills
- Excellent attention to detail for accurate tree assessments, pruning and removal.
Pay: $24.12 - $33.80 per hour
