Welcome to Treehouse Learning & Development, where we are committed to expanding educational opportunities through partnerships with community-based organizations. While our primary focus is high-quality literacy instruction, we also support learning in math, science, and social studies.
This summer, we are excited to serve students attending summer programs across the city of Chicago and the South Suburbs. Our goal is to prevent summer learning loss and keep students engaged, confident, and growing academically.
Position Overview
As an Assistant Teacher, you will support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, high-quality instruction. You will work closely with students in small groups and one-on-one settings, helping reinforce skills and support their academic progress. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and making a direct impact in their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher during daily instruction
- Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce learning
- Assist with lesson preparation and classroom setup/cleanup
- Monitor student progress and behavior during instruction
- Provide targeted support and re-teaching for struggling students
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings
- Assist with basic data collection and reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children
- Comfortable supporting students who may be struggling academically
- Strong communication skills and a positive, approachable demeanor
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative
- Team-oriented and collaborative
Additional Information
- This is an in-person position; all staff are required to work on-site
- Staff must have their own transportation to each site.
