TreeFrog Therapeutics is an innovative, international biotechnology company aiming to bring cell therapies to millions of patients using our C-STEM encapsulation technology, enabling large-scale amplification of iPS and differentiated cell products for patients. Using our C-STEM format, TreeFrog is currently developing multiple cell therapy programs for disease indications including Parkinson’s disease and acute liver failure. TreeFrog has also entered into a collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals to incorporate C-STEM in the production of iPS-derived islets for type 1 diabetes. Our US team is newly located in our own, renovated space in Cambridgeport Labs and supports a combination of internal R&D programs as well as collaborations with external partners. Description of Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented laboratory scientist to support iPS expansion and differentiation activities at TreeFrog. This position will support internal research activities and external collaborations to grow and differentiate iPS cells within the C-STEM platform. The successful candidate will be a collaborative laboratory scientist with a passion for stem cell differentiation and a track record of hPSC differentiation and characterization experience. This position will work in collaboration with scientists across multiple teams and report directly to the cell differentiation group lead at TreeFrog, US.


Job Responsibilities :

  • Culture and differentiation of iPS in multiple 2D and 3D formats
  • Encapsulation and expansion of iPS cells in TreeFrog’s C-STEM capsule technology
  • Testing and optimizing differentiation methods within the C-STEM platform
  • Routine analysis of differentiated cell products including
  • Flow cytometry
  • 2D cytochemistry
  • 3D immunocytochemistry
  • Protein analysis (ELISA, western blot, etc.)
  • RNA analysis (Real Time RT-PCR, RNAseq)
  • Support method development efforts involving the C-STEM platform
  • Routine laboratory maintenance
  • Diligent record keeping and thorough electronic lab notebook practices


Required Skills

  • B.S. or equivalent in Biology or a related field
  • Previous stem cell culture and differentiation experience (industry preferred)
  • Excellent tissue culture technique and ability to maintain large number of cultures at once
  • Experience in differentiation protocol optimization and development
  • Flow cytometry sample preparation and data analysis
  • Self-motivated, independent laboratory scientist
  • Ability to work in a larger research team and communicate effectively with other team members
  • Ability to work limited weekend hours
