Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Operations Manager position based in Troy, Michigan.
The Operations Manager serves as the bridge between ownership, the office, the shop, and our field crews. This individual will oversee daily operations, coordinate personnel and equipment, solve problems in real time, and ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Your mission is simple:
Nothing falls through the cracks.
You will be expected to learn how ownership thinks and operates so that, over time, you can confidently make day-to-day decisions and lead the operation with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop crew leaders and field personnel
- Oversee daily scheduling and job execution
- Ensure crews leave prepared with the proper equipment, materials, and job information
- Coordinate trucks, trailers, bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, cranes, and other equipment for maximum productivity
- Work closely with ownership, office staff, estimators, and shop personnel
- Respond to field issues, customer concerns, weather delays, and operational challenges
- Monitor equipment utilization and coordinate maintenance and repairs
- Enforce safety standards, company policies, and accountability throughout the organization
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and profitability
- Maintain strong communication between the field and the office
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
- Experience operating and managing heavy equipment used in tree care, construction, utilities, or similar industries
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple crews, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Sound judgment and problem-solving ability
- Commitment to safety, accountability, and professionalism
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Experience in:
- Tree service
- Arboriculture
- Landscaping
- Construction
- Utilities
- Logging or other field operations
ISA Certification or additional industry credentials are a plus but not required.
