Full Time Custodian - CHS

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is seeking applicants for a full-time custodian at Conestoga High School, 3p-11:30pm. The position is 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months/year, Monday through Friday. Starting rate: $22.80/Regular - $23.00 after probation.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate aptitude and physical ability for successful fulfillment assigned performance responsibilities (see below)
• Must be of good moral character and an effective communicator.
• Operates floor scrubbers, wet/dry pick up, and carpet shampoo machines.
• Must be physically able to shovel, plow and/or salt walks, play areas and steps as appropriate.
• Will be required to move supplies, furniture, or equipment within the buildings as necessary for various activities and as directed by the building principal/supervisor.
• Must be able to climb a ladder.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
• Certification of good health signed by licensed physician including TB test.
• Will be required to complete applicable background checks.
  
  

Performance Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Assists with field preparation for various athletic events.
• Empties trash receptacles and restock paper and soap supplies.
• Shovels, plows, and/or salts walks, play areas and steps as appropriate.
• Cleans classrooms, restrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias according to standard operating procedures.
• Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it, according to standard operating procedures.
• Cleans and disinfects bathroom floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily, according to standard operating procedures.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least once a year, and more frequently if necessary.
• Keeps the grounds free from rubbish and safe.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition, and in a good state of preservation.
• Cleans desktops and whiteboards.
• Performs general exterior maintenance such as sweeping, pressure washing and trash pickup.
• Reports major repairs and safety concerns needed promptly to the principal/supervisor.
• Reports immediately to the principal/supervisor any damage to school property.
• Remains on the school premises during assigned work hours, and during non-school hours, when the use of the building has been authorized, and his/her attendance is required by the principal/supervisor.
• Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each work shift, and for determining, before leaving, that doors and windows are secured, and lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off, according to standard operating procedures.
• Moves supplies, furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities, and as directed by the principal/supervisor according to standard operating procedures.
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• Assists organizations using school facilities to support extra-curricular activities.
• Custodians are to follow all safety procedures; including the wearing of safety glasses, gloves, work boots, etc., when warranted.
• May perform crossing guard duties to cover unexpected absences on as needed basis.
• Responsible for minor repairs to include changing lights bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters.
• Performs any other work assigned.
