Process Operations & Equipment Handling
The Outside Operator 1 ensures safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by monitoring production amounts, blending, and transferring chemical products, monitoring equipment, and maintaining accurate production records. This role actively supports quality standards, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and complies with all safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
Process Operations & Equipment Handling
- Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions.
- Monitor gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, or products to ensure specified conditions are maintained.
- Measure, weigh, and mix chemical ingredients according to specifications.
- Setup equipment for production by operating valves and pumps, ensuring line-ups are correct without internal or external leaks.
- Operate heavy equipment including forklift and manlift.
- Perform routine plant surveillance to report and correct, if possible, any abnormal situations.
- Draw samples of products at specified stages so analyses can be performed.
- Track and record process information and production data.
- Complete equipment log sheets as requested.
- Clean and prepare equipment as required for maintenance.
- Maintain plant housekeeping in assigned areas and elsewhere as requested.
- Observe all safety policies and procedures; participate in plant safety processes and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
- Maintain familiarity with safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergency response procedures, including firefighting, for all materials in your area.
- Remain current on Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and ensure actions support Trecora Quality Policy and continual improvement.
- Complete and maintain all Level One required training and certification with a score of 80 or above.
- Observe all company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work any overtime hours deemed necessary.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Associate degree in Process Operations or related technical field preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred; must be able to obtain certification upon hire.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical plant or industrial process environment, including process operations, pipeline transferring, or tank farm operations.
- Completion of entry-level safety training required; familiarity with chemical handling and plant safety protocols is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in process monitoring and data recording.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration across shifts and departments.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and regulatory compliance.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and monitoring systems.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Time management and adaptability in a fast-paced, 24/7 operations environment.
