POSITION PURPOSE:
The Licensed Practical Nurse will report to the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing and is responsible for all nursing related services for each patient during their stay at White Light Behavioral Health Columbus. The LPN provides all services under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, APRN or medical provider on duty and is responsible for providing medical and history screens, as well as providing routine nursing care, and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the patient in coordination with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director’s advice. The LPN assists with the medical and psychiatric management of patients in coordination of the provider and care team. He/she functions under the guidance of their State Licensure within Our Company in accordance of State and Federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Accountable for leading a WE CARE culture that focuses on our mission to provide a transformational influence to patients and their loved ones.
- Respond to and assist with any emergency medical situations and complete necessary documentation related to the incident
- Administer and manage medications according to doctor’s orders
- Assess patients for clinical signs and symptoms, report concerns to the provider, and follow up as necessary
- Meets with patients requesting to see medical to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability and responds positively to changing situations in the work setting
- Screens patients
- Assess individual patients and document in daily shift notes/progress notes when needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Vocational training could be substituted for a degree.
Vocational training could be substituted for a degree or other license pertaining to nursing.
A minimum of 3 years experience in psychiatry, preferably in a substance abuse program or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Detox experience or knowledge of addictions and mental health complications preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Ohio; maintaining current licensure per state requirements. Maintains current CPR certification.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of standard emergency procedures and medication administration
- Knowledge of airborne and bloodborne pathogens and the use of universal precautions
- Knowledge of the Principles and Practices of the discipline.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
- Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
- Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies. Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
