Summary:
An Admissions Nurse in an addiction treatment setting combines the administrative duties of an admissions coordinator.
You will act as the first point of contact for patients. You will be responsible for conducting intake screenings, assessing medical appropriateness for admission, and initiating the treatment process while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Clinical Intake Assessments:
- Conducting comprehensive in-person or telephonic assessments to evaluate the patient's physical and psychological condition including substance use history and determine the appropriate level of care.
- Medical Screening & Safety:
- Evaluating potential clients for medical stability and identifying risks (e.g., severe withdrawal) to ensure safety before, during, and after admission.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintaining accurate electronic medical records and completing intake paperwork while adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Liaison & Coordination:
- Acting as a liaison between referents (doctors, hospitals), families, and the internal medical team to coordinate admission, logistics, and transfer of care.
- Education & Support:
- Providing education to patients and families about the addiction recovery process and the facility's services.
- Previous experience in a call center, sales, or customer service role in a behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Empathetic and compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Exceptional closing skills and the ability to overcome objections.
