Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians in providing high-quality care to animals in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess relevant skills in veterinary terminology, animal husbandry and care. This position is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary hospital and the well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in examinations and procedures, ensuring proper animal handling and care
- Provide excellent pet care by monitoring animal health, behavior, and comfort
- Administer medications and maintain accurate records of treatments
- Handle laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and processing samples
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients
- Support the team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Utilize veterinary terminology
Requirements:
- Must be available Monday through Friday
- Minimum of 6 months previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a veterinary clinic, preferably 1 or more years of experience, preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures related to animal care
- Strong understanding of animal husbandry principles to ensure proper care
- Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners, demonstrating empathy in all interactions
- Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Excellent communication skills, a sense of urgency, and working harmoniously with teammates is required
- Must be dependable, demonstrate strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Must have strong computer skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
