POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and supporting the administration of reinsurance agreements. The role includes assisting senior brokers with contract preparation and revisions, managing administrative tasks, and conducting analytical reviews. It also involves close collaboration with brokers, clients, and internal teams to ensure contracts are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant standards. Key responsibilities include interpreting contract terms, preparing submission materials, reconciling reports, and managing related correspondence and inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Draft, review, and revise reinsurance contracts, endorsements, and other related documents for clients and markets, including notations, commutations, MGA, TPA, BOR, BAC, and similar items.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices, and implement necessary changes to reinsurance contract language and templates to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with broker teams to identify, address, and resolve contract-related issues.
- Support brokers in negotiating contract language and coordinate with clients and markets as necessary.
- Draft and review standard template wording and maintain updates as required.
- Oversee the organization and upkeep of contractual resources and serve as a liaison between underwriting, claims, legal, and compliance teams.
- Establish and maintain documented guidelines, processes, and procedures for maintaining contract and correspondence files.
- Work closely with contracts administrative staff, brokers, reinsurers, and clients to ensure accurate and timely contract execution and delivery.
- Develop and implement a structured training program on reinsurance contract standards and best practices brokers, contract analysts, and other Trean staff, as needed.
- Maintain and update documentation within the contract tracking and management systems as required.
- Build a broad understanding of the client’s operating environment and the marketplace in which Trean conducts its transactions.
- Assist brokers with contract-related inquiries from clients and markets, providing clear guidance and timely support as needed.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters, financial officers, and legal counsel.
- Balance multiple drafting priorities and manage timelines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties, activities, and assignments as requested or required.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- 2 - 5 years of experience in contract management within reinsurance, insurance, or legal fields
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with reinsurance accounting systems and software are beneficial.
- Soft skills: Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are crucial, as is a high level of attention to detail.
