What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at TRDI?
- Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
- Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
- Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Replace defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- The mechanic welds broken parts and structural members may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- May repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
- May services, diagnosis, and maintain aerospace ground support equipment in support of aircraft maintenance and alert service operations.
- Services, diagnosis, and maintain company equipment in support of operations.
- Test all repaired equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

· Must have Valid ASE Certified Mechanic Certification · Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner · Ability to effectively work with other team members · Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. · Ability to work a flexible work schedule. · Detail oriented and basic organizational skills. · Familiarity with the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment. · Valid state vehicle inspection license required. · Pass and maintain any required security clearance requirement. · Comply with Drug Free Workplace policy. · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). |

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE |

ASE Certified Mechanic Experience w/Certificate · High school diploma/GED required (associate’s degree preferred) · 3 years’ experience performing automotive and commercial equipment repairs and service · Ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly · Focused with a drive to succeed · Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts |
