Telecom Aerial Lineman

Job Description:

The Aerial Lineman will provide support installing telecommunications networks to residential and/or commercial customers. This position reports directly to the construction supervisor. Previous line experience is required.

Responsibilities:

• Handle materials such as fiber optic and coax cable reels
• Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable

· Ability to climb poles using gaffs, fall protection devices, climbing belts, ladders, etc.

• Be comfortable working with power tools and hand tools
• Comfortable working off of ladders as needed
• Ability to safely operate aerial lifts, such as bucket trucks and boom lifts
• Occasional digging of holes
• Use equipment to install ground rods, anchors
• Follow safety and traffic control regulations in accordance with DOT guidelines
• Maintain a safe work environment by following codes, standards and legal regulations
• Ability to maneuver large vehicles with limited visibility safely
• Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment
• Drill holes for aerial attachments in wooden poles as needed
• Install wire strand per design
• Use of aerial tools such as chain hoist, lifting straps, cable lasher, etc
• Document construction progress through written and photographic documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Ability to climb and work at elevations (e. g. , from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting and/or pulling objects weighing over 100 pounds
• Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e. g. , extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
• When working aloft, employee's weight and tools combined may not exceed the 280-pound weight limit as specified by the manufacturer
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
• Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making
• Bend/squat/kneel/stand frequently
• Safely using weight-bearing equipment (such as safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment
• Understand and follow OSHA safety requirements to complete the job(s) safely and efficiently

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (motor vehicle, drug, and background)

• Valid Driver's license with satisfactory driving record required

· Previous cable lineman experience is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• May be required to work long hours including occasional nights & weekends
• Must be available to work on-call for one week a month
• Working outdoors in all types of weather
