Role Description The Construction Assistant Project Manager is a full-time, office role based in Birmingham, AL, supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with project scheduling, tracking progress, and maintaining documentation such as contracts, change orders, and meeting notes. The role involves coordinating with project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure materials, equipment, and labor are available as needed. The Assistant Project Manager helps monitor budgets, supports cost control efforts, and assists with preparing reports and updates for internal stakeholders and clients. This position also contributes to maintaining safety and quality standards on projects and resolving routine issues that arise during construction.
Qualifications
- Ability to support project planning and execution with skills in Project Coordination and Project Management.
- Experience or education related to Construction Project Management and Construction Management for commercial renovation projects.
- Competence in Budgeting and cost tracking, including assisting with estimates, change orders, and financial reports.
- Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members, subcontractors, and clients.
- Proficiency with common office and project management software (e.g., MS Office, scheduling tools; familiarity with construction management platforms is a plus).
- Ability to work on-site in the office and around Birmingham, AL, including visiting job sites and supporting field operations as needed.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and willingness to adhere to company and regulatory safety standards.
- Prior experience in construction or a related industry is preferred but not required for highly motivated candidates willing to learn.
