High-Travel Recruiter — Duties and Responsibilities

The High-Travel Recruiter is responsible for supporting the company’s staffing needs across multiple locations. This position requires frequent travel and close communication with hiring managers, operational leadership, candidates, and Human Resources.

What You’ll Do

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel frequently to company offices, job sites, hiring events, career fairs, and community recruiting events.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify current and future staffing needs.
  • Source qualified candidates through job boards, social media, employee referrals, community partnerships, and recruiting events.
  • Review applications and résumés to determine candidate qualifications.
  • Conduct phone, virtual, and in-person interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Extend approved employment offers and explain job expectations, schedules, travel requirements, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Assist candidates with applications, onboarding documents, background checks, drug screenings, and other pre-employment steps.
  • Ensure candidates are moved through the recruiting and onboarding process accurately and promptly.
  • Organize and attend job fairs, hiring events, school visits, and workforce-development events.
  • Build relationships with technical schools, colleges, workforce agencies, community organizations, and industry partners.
  • Maintain accurate applicant records and recruiting activity in the applicant tracking system.
  • Monitor open requisitions and provide regular recruiting updates to management.
  • Meet hiring goals while maintaining company standards for candidate quality and compliance.
  • Follow all company policies and applicable employment laws throughout the recruiting process.
  • Protect confidential employee, applicant, and company information.
  • Represent the company professionally at all locations and recruiting events.
  • Assist with orientations, onboarding activities, and special HR projects when needed.
  • Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, based on travel and hiring needs.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

This position requires extensive travel, which may include overnight stays, extended trips, and changes to the travel schedule based on operational needs.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience Required for a Traveling Recruiter, high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in recruiting, staffing, Human Resources, or a related position is preferred.
  • Experience recruiting for construction, telecommunications, utilities, skilled trades, or other high-volume industries is beneficial.
  • Candidates should have experience sourcing applicants, reviewing résumés, conducting interviews, coordinating pre-employment requirements, managing multiple open positions, and maintaining accurate applicant records.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, job boards, social media recruiting, Microsoft Office, and virtual meeting platforms is preferred.
  • The position requires strong communication, organization, time-management, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working independently, managing changing priorities, meeting hiring deadlines, and communicating professionally with candidates and company leadership.
  • A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation are required.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel frequently, including overnight stays, extended trips, and occasional evening or weekend assignments.
