Image Capture Specialist

M-F 8:00am-4:30pm, 40 hours/week

Job Description:

Summary: The Image Capture Specialist reviews, processes, balances, validates, adjusts and/or approves check image transmissions received and originated through various endpoints. This position makes informed and timely considerations for checks while adhering to Travis Credit Union policies and procedures as well as Check 21 and regulations governing checks. The Image Capture Specialist facilitates 24/7 availability of funds through multiple channels, thus ensuring an overall positive member experience.

Profile:

• Processes, balances, validates and approves check image transmissions received through sources such as the ATM terminals, Mobile Deposit Capture (MDC), In Lobby Teller (ILT), mail, and various payment vendors.
• Processes the mail received for loan payments, payoffs and account deposits by scanning checks using high power scanning equipment and appropriate software.
• Reviews and corrects/adjusts physical checks, check images, and transactions for endorsements, signatures, data entry miskeys, duplicate presentments, questionable patterns, fraud, and MICR encoding errors.
• Identifies and escalates non-routine transactions and exceptions to minimize and eliminate potential fraud situations.
• Processes the settlement of the image check transmissions by making the appropriate daily entries.
• Assists with branch and departmental staff requests for member account adjustments, copies, and disputes.
• Remains compliant and current on applicable laws, regulations and governing rules such as the Uniform Commercial Codes and Federal and State Regulations.
• Adheres to respective FRB, UCC and department policies and procedures timelines for check images, processing disputes and pertinent tasks.
• Meets or exceeds all role and responsibility standards (Key Point Indicators).
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

• Knowledge of check processing, accounting principles and payment industry.
• Must be a quick learner in order to acquire and keep up-to-date with applicable regulations governing check processing.
• Sound understanding of systems and applications used for check processing and adjustments.
• Sound understanding of credit unions products and services.
• Excellent member service skills to include answering the phone and dealing with internal and external members in a polite and courteous manner.
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, and accurately complete multiple tasks within required timeframes with minimal supervision.
• Effective professional verbal and written communications skills.
• Effectively communicates all auditing issues, errors, and/or discrepancies with management, compliance, and related branch or department.
• Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Strong math skills, detail-oriented, accurate data entry skills and problem solving skills.

Reporting and Experience:

• Reports directly to the assigned Supervisor/Manager, Central Operations.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Levels:
  • Associate Image Capture Specialist: Minimum 1 year of related work experience
  • Image Capture Specialist: Minimum 2 years of related work experience

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available and usually sedentary in nature.

Understands the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and ensures compliance through monitoring and reporting of member activity as appropriate.


Compensation: Base hourly starting range: $18.29/hour- $24.39/hour is commensurate with experience.
