What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (Summer Season) position at Traverse City Country Club?
We have a beautiful OUTDOOR pool facility at Traverse City Country Club and we are seeking full and part-time Red Cross certified lifeguards (training provided for qualified candidates) for the 2026 season. Enjoy the sunshine in an fun environment! Flexible hours, meals included. The pool is open seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.
Current Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are required. Staff will also be engaged in ongoing training. There may also be opportunities for Swim Instructor positions for those that are interested and qualified.

The season, including training, runs May 15-September 12, 2026.
Qualifications:
- 15 years of age or older
- Current certifications in Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, or be willing to be trained.
- Ability to maintain certification and level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must pass reference check and complete the new employee orientation.
- Possess and demonstrate a strong understanding of TCCC and its purpose, mission and values.
- Must be detail oriented, accurate, and have strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a hot, humid environment.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment.
- Must be receptive to training and learning and willing to grow in the position
Essential Functions:
- Carry out all duties as assigned by the aquatics director.
- Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
- Know and frequently review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately, in accordance with TCCC policies, procedures and Red Cross training.
- Maintain effective, positive relationships with members and staff.
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pools and aquatic facility.
- Maintain accurate records as required by TCCC and/or State Health Department code.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Check the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival and throughout shift.
- Maintain cleanliness of pools and aquatic facility. Take chemical checks as required.
- Uphold member service standards.
- Participate in any meetings and/or trainings and be prepared to have skills checked at any time.
