This position is an assignment within the district's Business Office. It is a full-time, full-year position with an anticipated start date July 1, 2026. 

 

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Affiliated Administrator (AN)
Status: Full-Year, Full-Time (Salary, Exempt)

Contract: Non-Affiliated Administrator - Contract Addendum A

Reports to: Director of Finance

 

This position is eligible for a degree and longevity stipend. Salary is prorated to start date based on an July 1 -June 30 contract year.

General Summary:

The Accounting Coordinator II works to establish and maintain fiscal processes and to ensure compliance with program regulations. The Accounting Coordinator II reports to the Director of Finance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the District’s accounts receivable, including deposit preparation, data entry, invoicing, and returned checks.
  2. Reconciles bank account (capital projects investment and debt) balances to general ledger.
  3. Oversees local, state, and federal grant accounting requirements, including budget documentation for grant applications, general ledger maintenance, fund requests, expenditure reports, and other reports as required (often with difficult mandates, tight deadlines, and large financial impact).
  4. Provides training and technical assistance for staff related to the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) and nutritional requirements.
  5. Assists with budget preparation, documentation and implementation.
  6. Reviews site general ledger reports and prepares necessary journal adjustments.
  7. Assists with month-end and year-end closing of financial records.
  8. Responsible for Food Service accounting requirements, including budget preparation, general ledger maintenance, applications, school meal claims, profit and loss reporting, and other reports as required.  
  9. Develops systems, improves procedures, and increases overall efficiency.
  10. Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required. 
  2. Experience in accounting, budgeting, data processing, word processing, spreadsheets and other office skills required.
  3. Working knowledge of Michigan School Accounting Manual and school district policies.
  4. Analytical and organizational abilities.
  5. Ability to deal with details and maintain accuracy.
  6. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with diverse groups of people, including staff, students and members of the public.
  7. Ability to handle confidential information.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  1. Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis to the office. 
  2. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  3. The person in this position needs to be able to move about the office setting, including stooping or crouching to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. 
  4. Regular use of computer and other office equipment (printer/copy machine, etc.)
  5. The ability to listen and effectively communicate, both written and orally, information and ideas to a diverse population.
  6. Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s).
  7. Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions. 
  8. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in high stress or conflict situations. 
  9. Occasionally moves boxes and office supplies weighing up to 20 lbs across the office for various needs. 
  10. Ability to drive to various locations throughout the district.

Environmental Conditions:

This is a largely sedentary assignment, with most of the duties performed on a computer or phone in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Work Schedules:

Must be available for overtime and/or emergency overtime before and/or after regular scheduled workday, when necessary.

The individual selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
