Position Overview
The Clinical Operations & Practice Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a refractive surgery practice, ensuring excellent patient care, operational efficiency, and team leadership. This position works directly with the practice owner and clinical team to coordinate staff performance, patient flow, surgical scheduling, patient satisfaction, and business growth initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a boutique surgical practice. The manager must be comfortable participating in clinic workflow and cross-training in all practice roles including technician, administrative, and surgical assisting positions when needed to support the team, assist in training new employees in each position and maintain an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Management of Staff: scheduling staff and practitioners, ensuring adherence to company policy, resolving conflict, motivating staff, reviewing performances regularly, setting monthly goals, developing staff, holding regular office meetings
Managing patient schedule: manage the clinic and surgery schedule. Constantly monitoring for improvements and proper scheduling by staff to ensure adequate patient flow
Oversee patient flow/Patient Satisfaction: Ensuring proper patient flow, making sure patients are satisfied with their visits and outcomes. Requesting reviews and testimonials from satisfied patients, addressing concerns from dissatisfied patients, scheduling enhancements, and assisting in the records review for those requesting enhancement evaluations, assisting in clinic when necessary
Innovating: introducing innovative ideas for patient service, employee satisfaction, revenue growth, competitive advantage, equipment purchases
Human Resources: resolving conflict, hiring new employees, overseeing training of new employees, terminating employees, calculating payroll, tracking PTO accrual and usage, regular performance evaluations, reprimanding and rewarding staff, recommending monthly bonuses and compensation reviews, organizing annual insurance renewal
Equipment Maintenance: ensuring that all equipment has been properly maintained according to manufacturer specifications, repaired immediately when necessary
Supply purchasing: Supervise purchasing of all supplies.

Qualifications
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will likely have some college education, though a degree is not strictly required. Preference may be given to candidates with coursework or a background in a related field.
Experience in ophthalmology or optometry is highly desirable; however, candidates with any type of eye care or medical office experience will also be considered. We recognize that this type of experience can be difficult to find, so transferable skills from other healthcare settings are valuable.
Candidates should ideally have prior work experience—typically individuals over 30 may bring the level of professional and life experience that aligns well with this role, though all qualified applicants will be considered.
