Role Description This is a full-time/Part time hybrid Corporate/Leisure Travel Consultant role based in Barrington, IL, The consultant will handle end-to-end travel arrangements for both corporate and leisure clients, including flights, hotels, car rentals, and other ground transportation. Day-to-day responsibilities include consulting with clients to understand their travel needs, proposing suitable itineraries, and ensuring compliance with organizational travel policies and budgets.
The role involves using travel booking tools and GDS or similar systems to issue tickets and reservations, modify bookings, and resolve issues or disruptions. The consultant will provide responsive customer service via phone, email, and online platforms, manage trip changes and cancellations, and maintain accurate documentation of all travel activities. Collaboration with internal teams and vendors to secure competitive rates, special requests, and group travel arrangements is an important part of the position.
Qualifications
- Strong Travel Consulting skills, with experience advising clients on routes, options, and cost-effective itineraries, with Sabre experience a must
- We are looking for someone with a following.
- Experience in Leisure Travel planning, including vacation packages, tours, and custom itineraries.
- Knowledge of Corporate Travel Management practices, including policy compliance, budgets, and vendor coordination.
- Familiarity with Car Rental arrangements and other ground transportation services as part of complete travel solutions.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, including professional communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Previous experience using GDS or online booking tools (e.g., Sabre, Amadeus, Apollo, or similar) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, manage time independently, and handle multiple bookings and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in issuing tickets, documenting reservations, and managing travel changes.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in travel, hospitality, or a related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in a travel agency, corporate travel department, or nonprofit travel coordination is a must.
