Travelers Aid – Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and collaborative customer service candidate to join our team.

The candidate will have a key role, administering a volunteer program integral to the customer experience at EWR, ensuring our volunteers are equipped with the skills and enthusiasm to deliver top-notch customer service to airport customers.

Who We Are

Travelers Aid International (TAI) is an international network of social service agencies, airports, and train stations representing a safety net to individuals of all abilities to connect with a support system or place. The Travelers Aid International mission is to aid people in transit who are in distress, through our direct services and through services provided by our member organizations.

Since 1992, Travelers Aid at EWR serves as a volunteer led customer service program assisting airport passengers. Our volunteers are in key areas throughout the airport and provide passengers with accurate airport information and a positive experience while traveling.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Develop creative recruitment strategies using outreach, social media, community partnerships, and events.
  • Build relationships with local schools, universities, businesses, and community groups to attract new volunteers.

Volunteer Training

  • Provide engaging training sessions for new and current volunteers.
  • Support orientation, safety protocols, and customer service development.

Volunteer Engagement & Retention

  • Track volunteer progress, attendance, and satisfaction.
  • Develop initiatives that celebrate milestones and highlight impact.
  • Support appreciation events and efforts.

Program Support

  • Maintain volunteer records, schedules, and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with Travelers Aid International team to meet goals.

Who You Are

We’re seeking candidates who have:

  • Comfortable thinking quickly on their feet and de-escalating situations during times of heightened stress
  • Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Organizational skills and can juggle multiple tasks with ease
  • Experience in a high impact and dynamic customer service environment
  • A collaborative nature
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) appreciated

Position Requirements

  • Work Location: On-site at Newark Liberty International Airport
  • Job Type: Part Time – (during a M-F 10am-6pm week), including some holiday coverage
  • Bachelor’s Degree or HS Diploma plus 3-5 years in a progressively responsible customer service or administrative role
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy airport environment
  • Strong computer and data entry skills
  • Regularly required to stand and walk
