Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator for the Airport Volunteer Program, with a focus on recruitment, training, and retention, is responsible for managing all aspects of volunteer onboarding, skill development, and long-term engagement. This position will focus on attracting a diverse pool of volunteers, ensuring they receive comprehensive training, and developing strategies to keep them motivated and committed. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and have a passion for volunteerism and community engagement.
Who we are
Travelers Aid International (TAI) is an international network of social service agencies, airports and train stations representing a safety net to individuals of all abilities to connect with a support system or place. TAI operates the volunteer-based airport guest experience program at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). The Travelers Aid International mission is to aid people in transit through our direct services and through services provided by our member organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment
- Develop creative recruitment strategies using outreach, social media, community partnerships, and events.
- Build relationships with local schools, universities, businesses, and community groups to attract new volunteers.
- Represent the volunteer program at fairs and public events.
Volunteer Training
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions for new and current volunteers.
- Manage orientation, safety protocols, and customer service development.
- Create resources and tools that help volunteers succeed.
Volunteer Engagement & Retention
- Track volunteer progress, attendance, and satisfaction.
- Develop initiatives that celebrate milestones and highlight impact.
- Support engagement efforts.
Program Support
- Maintain volunteer records, schedules, and reports.
- Assist in managing resources and program materials.
- Work collaboratively with airport departments and internal teams to meet program goals.
We’re seeking candidates who have:
- Experience in recruiting and retaining a diverse group of volunteers to serve as high impact customer service representatives in a dynamic environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with all people
- A collaborative nature
- Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) appreciated

Hours
- Full time, Tuesday - Saturday, 8-hour days. Hours could include 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. or 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Ability to commute:
- Philadelphia, PA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
