What are the responsibilities and job description for the Escape Room Game Host position at Trapped in the Upstate Escape Rooms?
Part-Time | Nights, Weekends & Holidays Required
At Trapped in the Upstate Escape Rooms, our Game Hosts create immersive, memorable experiences for guests by running escape room games, interacting with customers, resetting rooms, and helping maintain a fun, high-energy atmosphere.
This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible supplemental income, a second job, or a position that works around school schedules.
Important Scheduling Information
Please read carefully before applying.
Because a large percentage of our bookings are made same-day, staffing needs can change very quickly throughout the day. We often schedule more staff than we may initially need in anticipation of late bookings and walk-ins.
This means:
- Start times may occasionally be pushed back later in the day
- Scheduled shifts may sometimes be shortened or cut if business remains slow
- Weekly hours will vary depending on season and booking volume
- Summer, holidays, weekends, and school breaks are typically much busier
For this reason, this position works best for individuals who:
- Need flexible supplemental income
- Are students
- Have another part-time job
- Appreciate schedule flexibility rather than guaranteed hours
In return, we are very flexible with:
- School schedules
- Other jobs
- Time-off requests submitted in advance
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have reliable personal transportation and be able to consistently arrive on time for shifts
- Availability on nights, weekends, and holidays is required
- Comfortable speaking to groups and providing customer service
- Dependable and reliable — customers prepay for reservations, so attendance is extremely important
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous escape room experience strongly preferred
- Customer service, theater, hospitality, or entertainment experience is a plus
- Ability to multitask and stay calm in fast-paced situations
Job Duties
- Check in and brief guests before games
- Monitor games and provide hints when needed
- Reset rooms quickly and accurately between groups
- Answer phones and assist with bookings
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of lobby and game areas
- Help create a fun, immersive guest experience
