What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Student Engagement & Activities position at Transylvania University?
Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Engagement & Activities oversees all student engagement opportunities, including on-campus student organizations and their partnerships with surrounding university student organizations. This role is the primary advisor to the Student Activities Board and the Student Government Association. In addition, the coordinator will be in charge of enhancing on-campus engagement for student organizations. Additionally, the coordinator is expected to have an on-campus presence at evening and weekend student meetings and events.
Essential Duties:
- Serve as the main resource and support source for the 40 student organizations on campus.
- Serve as the primary advisor for the Student Activities Board (SAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA).
- Enhance engagement for on campus students through programming, leadership development and workshops
- Support the underrepresented student organizations and foster inclusive practices and partnerships across campus.
- Facilitate monthly meetings, one-on-one sessions, and bi-monthly advisor meetings with student org presidents.
- Foster relationships and partnerships with surrounding universities' student organizations to promote and grow Transy student organizations.
- Organize and lead a leadership workshop for all student organizations to learn best practices to grow, organize, and market their organizations.
- Oversee budgets for the Student Activities Board (SAB), the Student Government Association (SGA), and other student organizations.
Secondary Duties:
- Manage the event approval/notification process for student organizations
- Participate in after-hours weekly “on-call” duty rotation with the Student Life staff.
- Represent the Office of Campus & Community Engagement on university-wide committees and at campus events.
