Business Brokerage Advisor (Independent Contractor)

Transworld Business Advisors of Frederick
Frederick, MD Contractor
POSTED ON 8/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/14/2026
About the Role
We are seeking a Business Brokerage Advisor to join a small, principled advisory practice serving owner-operators through business sales, succession planning, and ownership transitions.
This is not a traditional sales role. It is an advisory producer seat for professionals who value judgment, structure, accountability, and long-term trust over shortcuts or volume tactics.
Our clients are small business owners facing complex, high-stakes decisions. We exist to serve them well—even when that means slowing a deal down, resetting expectations, or advising against a transaction.

Who This Role Is For
This role is well-suited for professionals who:
  • Have meaningful experience advising, lending to, operating, or working closely with small businesses
  • Are comfortable with financial statements, valuation concepts, and nuanced conversations
  • Prefer clear standards and accountability over ambiguity
  • Want autonomy with structure, not freedom without responsibility
  • Are ready to build a durable advisory practice—not “try out” brokerage
Prior business brokerage experience is helpful but not required.
Judgment, maturity, and accountability are required.
Who This Role Is Not For
This role is not a fit for individuals who:
  • Are seeking part-time, side-hustle, or exploratory work
  • Need constant direction, motivation, or lead-hand-offs
  • Are uncomfortable being measured against clear weekly standards
  • Prefer high-pressure closing tactics over advisory integrity
  • Are primarily motivated by “unlimited upside” messaging
We are deliberate about fit—for the sake of our clients and our advisors.

Core Responsibilities
As a Business Brokerage Advisor, you will:
  • Build and manage relationships with small business owners
  • Conduct structured seller meetings and readiness conversations
  • Analyze financials and support valuation discussions
  • Set and maintain pricing discipline aligned with market realities
  • Manage listings and transactions through diligence and closing
  • Communicate clearly with buyers, sellers, and professional partners
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in the firm’s CRM
You are expected to self-generate activity, manage your pipeline independently, and operate within firm standards.

Performance Standards & Onboarding
We operate with explicit operating standards to protect clients and advisors alike.

New advisors enter through a structured onboarding and confirmation period, during which expectations, systems, and benchmarks are reviewed weekly. This process exists to ensure clarity, alignment, and mutual confidence—not to create pressure or ambiguity.

Advisors who thrive here value knowing exactly what “doing the job well” looks like.

Compensation & Structure
  • This role is offered on a 1099 independent contractor basis
  • Compensation is commission-based, starting at a 50% split
  • Earnings are tied directly to closed transactions
  • Advisors are responsible for their own taxes and expenses
  • No employee benefits are provided
This structure reflects the professional, autonomous nature of the advisory role.

Support & Resources

While advisors are accountable for outcomes, they are supported with:
  • Structured onboarding aligned to firm standards
  • Access to firm systems, templates, and processes
  • Weekly scorecard reviews and feedback
  • Guidance on valuation, pricing, and deal structure
  • A collaborative, values-driven environment
You will always know where you stand and what success looks like.

Our Values
We believe:
  • Small business owners deserve honest, disciplined advice
  • Long-term trust outweighs short-term gain
  • Structure protects both clients and advisors
  • Accountability is a form of respect
  • our efforts in the market help to secure the future of small business and the American Dream
If these principles resonate with you, we welcome the conversation.
