Qualifications:
- High school diploma and advanced course work desired
- Minimum of five years of experience in school transportation operations required, additional experience beyond five years desired;
- Knowledge of student transportation laws, rules, regulations required;
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated experience with computer assisted student routing preferred; demonstrated ability to design efficient bus routes required;
- Demonstrated experience managing pupil transportation systems including development of time schedules, dispatching, field trip assignments, fleet service records, contract application, etc.
- Knowledge of FERPA, and relevant school laws;
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations;
- Some lifting required.
Description:
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the transportation department for the school district in a cost-effective and pro-active manner;
- Provides effective department supervision and models a quality department
- Advises the Director on hiring, training, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining bus drivers, and bus aides.
- Maintain and operate the computerized routing system including route development and student database management;
- Operates and maintains all electronic and computer based transportation systems including, but not limited to building security system, property video security, fuel master, bus video, electronic time clock, and any other department systems deemed necessary;
- Maintains fleet maintenance inventor system on a regular basis
- May review, investigate and provide the initial response to parental and guardian requests regarding bus stops, routing, student behavior management and driver inquires;
- Maintain student data records, their emergency contacts and special considerations;
- Makes recommendations to the Director regarding budget needs in a fiscally prudent manner, and makes suggestion to improve efficiency;
- Provides input on department quality measures based on the department mission;
- Contributes to the development of in-service training for all staff on safety practices, safe-driving techniques and district-wide initiatives;
- Makes recommendations to the Director regarding issues related to the driver contract.
- Maintains records and prepares all State and local reports in a timely manner;
- Follows all District policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
