Job Title: School Bus Driver Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt
Reports to: Driver Supervisor Pay Grade: Bus Driver Pay Scale
Dept./School: Transportation Contract Days: 179
Primary Purpose: Safely transport students to and from school and to extracurricular activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Class B CDL with proper endorsements
- State School Bus Driver Certification
- Good driving record
- Pass D.O.T. physical, pre-employment drug test, and background check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to safely drive a school bus in all weather and road conditions
- Ability to manage, communicate, and interact with bus students of all ages in a professional manner
Experience:
- Six years of general driving experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate school bus
- Maintain required records
- Report needed repairs
- Pre-trip and post trip inspections of bus
- Fuel and sweep bus as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage bus riders
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
