What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Fleet Mechanic position at TRANSPORTATION?
Primary Purpose
Perform mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability of vehicles for the
transportation of students while identifying capability needs, training needs and action plans that lead to continuous improvement and capability with the mechanic group. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure

High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) or ability to obtain within six months of hire Pass an Annual Department of Transportation Physical (DOT)
- Good driving record
- TASBT Master Certifications or ASE Master Certification
- ASE or MACS A/C recovery and recycling license
- TXDPS Licensed State Vehicle Safety Inspector or obtain within six months of hire

Experience

Minimum 10 years automotive or truck mechanical repair experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on gasoline, diesel, propane, and CNG fleet vehicles, including engines, brakes, electrical systems, suspensions, and driveline components.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and highly organized work are.
- Serve as a technical expert in vehicle systems.
- Document labor, parts, and repairs accurately in fleet management software and required forms.
- Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, state, and federal regulations: keep a clean and organized work area.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment, testing, and tuning vehicle systems.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to all levels or Mechanics, working in partnership with the Shop Manager to develop training processes, and annual recertification standards.
- Participate in the rotating 24-hour on-call schedule and maintain required personal hand tool.
- Support the Shop Manager with workflow coordination, staff guidance, and identifying training or process improvement opportunities: serve as acting supervisor when needed.
