Maintenance Specialist - Licensed HVAC Technician

Terms of Employment: 260 days; includes 13 paid holidays
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay: $33.45-$36.35
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment within the
School District. There are multiple positions (employees' primary roles) in this classification, as listed below. Employees
may be asked to assist in areas outside of their position.
Requirements:
• Washington State L&I HVAC/Refrigeration License or Idaho HVAC Journeyman or Master License
• EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for refrigerant handling
• Drivers license
• Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repair
• Demonstrated knowledge of boiler maintenance and repairs
• Demonstrated knowledge of temperature control systems and computer monitoring for AC systems
• Demonstrated ability to assist in areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other maintenance
• Physical capacity to perform all aspects of the job
• Demonstrated skill in the operation of tools and equipment
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, requiring a minimum of supervision
• Basic math, simple fractions such as measurements, ability to perform addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division
• Ability to utilize email and work order systems
• Ability to give and receive written and verbal instructions
• Ability to complete reports
• Ability to apply general guidelines to a wide variety of situations with several variables
• Think quickly to address situations
• Attention to detail
• Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds
Essential Functions:
• Identify and maintain computer-controlled HVAC equipment and repair
• Monitor and repair boilers and kitchen appliances
• Troubleshoot refrigeration unit maintenance and inspect for other electrical and safety issues.
• Complete annual boiler inspections with the state inspector
• Change filters on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
• Obtain and submit quotes from vendors to the maintenance manager.
• Respond to alarm calls as needed.
• Move and assist in the moving of furniture and equipment.
• Set up and breakdown of equipment for various performances.
• Assist in caring for district facilities to maintain a safe and attractive appearance.
• General maintenance and repair.
• Plan and record keeping as required by assigned duties.
• Provide advice concerning materials and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must submit fingerprints for a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School
District standards.
• Must complete annual SafeSchools Training
