What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Safety Coach/6.5 hours per day position at Transportation?
POSITION TITLE: Bus Safety Coach
SUPERVISOR: Transportation Director
JOB SUMMARY: Together with the bus driver, focus on Students, Safety, and Service while transporting students to and from school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assisting students to safely load and unload from the bus
2. Supervising students to maintain safety while riding the bus
3. While riding the bus, all of the safety coach’s attention should be directed towards keeping students in their seats and, when required, properly buckled using the provided safety harnesses/belts.
4. Being aware of the requirements of transporting wheel-chair bound students as needed
5. Assisting the driver in maintaining discipline and reporting undisciplined students to the transportation director
6. Reporting all accidents and completing required reports
7. Assisting in keeping the assigned bus clean
8. Arriving for work on time according to the assigned schedule
9. Completing any and all reasonable duties/responsibilities as delegated/directed by the transportation director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education
? High school diploma/ GED preferred
Knowledge
? Maintain confidentiality of student information
? Basic knowledge of appropriate student management techniques
? Basic knowledge of how to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Skills
? Ability to relate well to students and adults by treating them with dignity and respect
? Providing professional interactions with parents and community members
? Ability to properly secure students, to lift 50 lbs, and to evacuate the bus in an emergency
